non-transform offset (NTO); OH1 (=OH-1) segment is just south of Oceanographer FZ; hydrothermal activity not discovered here as of Gracia et al. (2000); at 1900-m depth on eastern flank of median ridge observed extinct hydrothermal deposits with submersible Nautile in 1996 (Gracia et al. 1998)
