Notes on Vent Field Description:
“Futagoyama” field, located in the southern-Okinawa Trough, in which two sites were detected, named Waka and Taka. Max. 291°C fluid venting was recorded in Waka site, whereas only gas bubbles emitted from the sea-floor were observed visually in Taka site (Makabe A. et al., 2017); In Waka site of Futagoyama field, we could discover hydrothermal field and rich animal colonies at the top of the knoll. In Taka site of Futagoyama field (Southern hill of Futagoyama) we could find no hydrothermal vent, but CO2 bubble emissions were observed. We concluded that this CO2 bubbles were affected as the signatures obtained from MBES and side-scan sonar. In Waka site of Futagoyama field, we could discover hydrothermal field and rich animal colonies at the top of the knoll (Kairei Cruise Report KR16-16, 2016).;
